Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Manipulator Product Development Team. This role involves leading the mechanical design, assembly, and fabrication of robotic arms and multibody systems. You will apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles and conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to optimize performance, manufacturability, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design and development of robotic manipulators, including detailed CAD modeling and drafting.
  • Apply DFMA principles for manufacturing process optimization, assembly efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct FMEA to identify failure modes, assess risks, and implement design improvements for enhanced reliability.
  • Oversee assembly and fabrication of robot arms and multibody systems, ensuring accurate translation of designs into prototypes and production units.
  • Collaborate with electronics, control systems, and software engineers for seamless integration of mechanical components.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, assembly instructions, and test protocols.
  • Stay updated with advancements in mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, specifically with robotic manipulators or similar systems.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for detailed design and simulation.
  • Strong knowledge of DFMA principles and experience applying them to designs.
  • Experience with FMEA processes and risk mitigation.
  • Hands-on experience with the assembly and fabrication of robotic arms and multibody systems.
  • Solid understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes, and structural analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of robotics and automation industry standards.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Previous experience in mentoring and leading a team of engineers.
