About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled intern to design and implement a Data Acquisition System (DAQ) for a robotic arm. This role offers hands-on experience in sensor integration, data collection, and system configuration, with opportunities to work on cutting-edge robotic technologies. Candidates with a background in Formula SAE or SAE Mini Baja are highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Research:
- Identify and evaluate DAQ systems suitable for capturing stress, strain, movement, and vibrations.
- Research and recommend strain gauges, accelerometers, and other relevant sensors.
- Procurement & Sponsorship:
- Lead the process for purchasing or acquiring sponsorship for the selected DAQ system and sensors.
- Prepare proposals and liaise with vendors and sponsors.
- System Setup & Configuration:
- Install sensors on the robotic arm, ensuring accurate placement and functionality.
- Configure the DAQ system for data collection and ensure proper calibration.
- Test and validate the system to ensure reliable data acquisition.
Qualifications:
- Education: Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Hands-on experience with Formula SAE or SAE Mini Baja projects.
- Familiarity with Raspberry Pi and its application in data acquisition.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of strain gauges, accelerometers, and other sensors.
- Basic programming skills (Python preferred) for sensor integration and data handling.
- Understanding of DAQ systems and their configuration.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
