Data Acquisition System Intern – Robotics

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled intern to design and implement a Data Acquisition System (DAQ) for a robotic arm. This role offers hands-on experience in sensor integration, data collection, and system configuration, with opportunities to work on cutting-edge robotic technologies. Candidates with a background in Formula SAE or SAE Mini Baja are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Market Research:
    • Identify and evaluate DAQ systems suitable for capturing stress, strain, movement, and vibrations.
    • Research and recommend strain gauges, accelerometers, and other relevant sensors.
  2. Procurement & Sponsorship:
    • Lead the process for purchasing or acquiring sponsorship for the selected DAQ system and sensors.
    • Prepare proposals and liaise with vendors and sponsors.
  3. System Setup & Configuration:
    • Install sensors on the robotic arm, ensuring accurate placement and functionality.
    • Configure the DAQ system for data collection and ensure proper calibration.
    • Test and validate the system to ensure reliable data acquisition.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Hands-on experience with Formula SAE or SAE Mini Baja projects.
    • Familiarity with Raspberry Pi and its application in data acquisition.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of strain gauges, accelerometers, and other sensors.
    • Basic programming skills (Python preferred) for sensor integration and data handling.
    • Understanding of DAQ systems and their configuration.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
